Avalon Landscapes & Design Ltd was formed in 2002 by Michael Grinham to provide an outstanding landscaping service to clients across the West Midlands. Meeting these aims since then we have successfully created functional and imaginative gardens of all sizes across the region.
We pride ourselves in having extensive knowledge of landscaping including the material we recommend and the techniques and skills involved in their installation. We have, along the way, formed solid relationships with suppliers and industry experts, so that we are aware of new products and the best practice for their installation.
Michael Grinham, Director
Michael started working in the industry from the tender age of eleven, assisting his father at the family’s garden centre. Throughout his formative years he regularly returned to help out, enjoying the work immensely. On leaving school He opted for outdoor work and took various roles in the construction industry. Being passionate about design, he undertook a course in 3D design at Birmingham UCE and afterwards worked as a self-employed jewellery designer. His passion for working outdoors eventually got the better of him and he returned to full time landscaping in 2002, setting up Avalon Landscape & Design ltd. He will be your first point of contact and would love to hear about the ideas you have to develop your outdoor space..
Meet The Team
I have carefully put together a team of skilled workers who are passionate about the industry and learning new skills and techniques. Collectively we are able to undertake a variety of projects and relish the opportunity to apply our expertise and knowledge. Come rain or shine, we will always offer a very personal and bespoke service and we look forward to working with you in the future.
Jim - Senior Team Leader
Jim has 20 years experience in landscaping so has a wealth of knowledge about our industry. He drives the projects to ensure that they meet the deadlines and is super supportive of the
junior members of staff. He only has one stipulation with regards to his working day and this is that tea break falls to coincide with Ken Bruce’s radio pop quiz – as he works so hard for the rest of the day he’s permitted this daily pleasure!
Jake – Team Leader
Working in the industry for 15 years, Jake has a great aptitude for working in wood, although he can turn his hand to anything landscape related. He motivates other team members and will ensure that tasks are carried out to a high standard.
Josh – Landscaper
From the wilds of Suffolk Josh is a great guy to have on the team, his genial nature means he takes on any task that he is given with great gusto.
Will – Junior Landscaper
Will is a key member of the team who is eager to learn the trade from ‘uncle Jim’, he is now turning his hand to some of the more skilled tasks under the supervision of the more senior members of the team. He likes 3 sugars in his tea being super-fast and dedicated
James – Landscape Apprentice
New to the team, James is fitting in nicely and his background in horticulture is going to stand him in good stead. We are keen to develop his skills as he continues to become a valued team member.
